It’s A Party in the U.S.A.

Levi Johnson attends the Teen Choice 2009 Awards in Los Angeles

I know I said it was Miley’s worst single yet earlier today, but perhaps I overreacted.  Rather, it’s a departure from Miley Cyrus pop we’re used to hearing, but perhaps “Party in the U.S.A.” has some merit.

The first time I heard this song I will admit that I was both ecstatic that Miley Cyrus was finally singing well for live performances and disappointed with the song she was singing.  Now, having listened to the song a few dozen times, I’m pretty sure I like it.

Here’s why.

Much like “The Climb”, we get a bit more of Miley’s true voice–a kind of country feel–in this song that doesn’t show up as much in “See You Again” and “7 Things”.  Plus, for a country fan and a lover of all things Southern, the reference to Nashville made me feel fuzzy inside.

“Party in the U.S.A.” might spark some airplay–it’s finally dethroned “I Gotta Feeling” on iTunes–or it might not.  Either way, it’ll sure get some plays from my laptop. Look for the song on iTunes or get it from her EP, soon to be released in Wal-Mart stores.

I Can’t Believe People Are Buying This Rubbish

I guess it’s respectable that Disney wants to help the environment.  And that they would put their four big stars–Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and the Jonas Brothers–together to sing a song about it to help raise money is nice of them.

Too bad the song only vaguely seems related to helping the environment.  And it’s not even a good song.  Sadly, in this world, if Disney puts a stamp on it, the song sells well.  It’s on the iTunes Top 100 chart right now and has hovered around #10-15 all day.

Miley’s Best Performance… Too Bad It’s Her Worst Single

It’s a shame that Miley Cyrus finally gave a decent performance on an awards show this week singing what could very well be her worst single yet, “Party in the U.S.A.”.

The performance is surprisingly good for Miley!  Her vocals actually seem under control.  Normally I cringe every time she opens her mouth on stage.

Another bit you may find interesting is that pole she stands next to for a portion of the song.  Miley’s getting a lot of attention in the media for that stripper pole.  Seriously guys?  She crouched down once and then just stood next to it.  Not particularly provocative.

But To Him, I’m Just a Zombie…

VenetianPrincess is back with another parody this week, targeting everyone’s favorite country-pop star Taylor Swift!

Once again, VenetiaPrincess delivers a funny parody of a popular artist–although this one doesn’t answer any important questions (like why Lady Gaga is so weird).

Look What I Found on Wikipedia!

Have you ever been reading through Wikipedia, read something you thought couldn’t possibly be true, and then, after looking through the sources, found out it indeed is true?  It happened to me today!  And you’ll never believe it but…

Justin Bieber will be releasing his debut CD on September 15, My World!  Yup, MTV says so!

And a big congratulations to Bieber, who is nearing six million views for his first music video (between the release on his channel and the one on Universal Music’s channel).
